Feature

Set a document up once, send it in seconds

Templates keep the documents you send often ready to go: fields placed, each signer’s role set, and variables that fill names, prices, pictures and whole tables straight into the document.

In detail

Variables that fill the document

  • Text, rich text with bold, italics and lists, pictures, and tables
  • Filled into the document itself, and into the email’s subject and message
  • Checked as you fill them in: an email address, a number, a date in the future or the past, an Australian mobile
  • Fill a detail in once and it’s right everywhere it appears

Reuse without rework

  • Fields, signers’ roles and your deadline and reminder settings saved with the template
  • Optional signers you include only when a document needs them
  • Combine several templates into one, with their signers and variables merged, on Solo and up
  • Start from a PDF’s own form fields: import them as signing fields

Word templates, on Solo and up

  • A Word file added to a template stays a Word file: Edit wording opens it in the browser, with Insert variable, Signer field and Make optional on the toolbar
  • Values are written into the sentences at their full size — a long company name wraps instead of shrinking — and tables run across pages with their heading row repeated
  • Optional clauses switched on or off each time the template is used: in the app, in a bulk send’s spreadsheet and through the API. A clause left out disappears, and numbered clauses close up
  • Signature and date fields placed in the text follow their words when the wording changes, and the file as uploaded is kept, so Go back to the uploaded file is always possible
  • On Free, a Word file added to a template is converted to a fixed PDF, as every plan did before

Starting templates, on Solo and up

  • A library of Word starting templates to copy, such as NDAs, contractor and services agreements, photo releases, waivers, a letter of offer and a letter of demand, with fields already placed and optional clauses to keep or leave out
  • Where the law sets the form to use, such as a residential tenancy agreement, the library links to it on the regulator’s own site instead of offering a template, and says what to do with it: usually, fill it in there and upload it to send it for signing
  • General starting drafts, not legal advice: read and change every clause, and check it with your own adviser or official sources before you rely on it
  • Each template’s card says where its words came from, crediting and linking any source it was adapted from and that source’s licence, when they were written and what it isn’t suitable for
  • A copied template is yours to change, and counts as one of your templates

On every plan

  • Free includes 2 templates, archived ones included; Solo, Team and Scale have no limit
  • Send a template to a whole list at once with bulk send on Team and Scale
